Hampton County is a county located in the U.S. state of South Carolina. The 2000 census recorded its population to be 21,386, with nearly 65% of this classified as rural. Its county seat is Hampton. The county includes two small urban clusters: Hampton (2000 pop.: 4,011) and Estill (3,637). The name originates from Civil War general Wade Hampton.

Berkeley County is a county in the U.S. state of South Carolina. In 2000, its population was 142,651. The 2005 Census Bureau estimate placed the population at 151,673. Its county seat is Moncks Corner.
As defined by the U.S. Office of Management and Budget, and used by the U.S. Census Bureau for statistical purposes only, Berkeley County is included within the Charleston-North Charleston-Summerville metropolitan area.

Jasper County

Jasper County is a county located in the U.S. state of South Carolina. It was formed in 1912 from portions of Hampton County and Beaufort County. In 2000, its population was 20,678 (21,398 according to a 2005 estimate). Its county seat is Ridgeland Jasper County is included within the Hilton Head Island–Beaufort Micropolitan Statistical Area, though over 80% of the county population is classified as rural. Historically, in contrast to neighboring Beaufort County, Jasper was one of the poorest counties in the state. Recent development from 2000 onwards has given the county new residents, expanded business opportunities, and a wealthier tax base.

Its county seat is Chaleston. It is the third-most populous county in the state (behind Greenville and Richland counties). Charleston County was created in 1901 by an act of the South Carolina State Legislature.

Dorchester county is named for its first settlement area, which was established by Congregationalists in 1696. These settlers applied the name "Dorchester" after their last residence in Dorchester, Massachusetts.
